First-launch instructions

macOS: installed manually (not via Homebrew)?

macOS Gatekeeper shows this misleading message for unsigned apps. The app isn't damaged — open Terminal and run:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Channel ID Finder.app"

Then double-click the app. If you haven't moved it to Applications yet, point at the .app where it lives (usually ~/Downloads/Channel ID Finder.app).

Already moved to Trash? Restore from Trash, then run the command above.

⚠ Windows: SmartScreen warning?

Windows shows "Windows protected your PC" for unsigned installers. The installer is safe — click More info, then Run anyway.

macOS: I have an Intel Mac, not Apple Silicon

The default Mac download is Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4). For Intel Macs (2020 and earlier), download the Intel build directly.

Windows: I prefer the .msi installer

Default Windows download is the lighter NSIS .exe installer. For an MSI (e.g. for group-policy deploy), download the .msi build.

How it works

  1. Subscribe to Unlimited Desktop App ($29/yr) — license key emailed to you
  2. Download the installer above for your OS
  3. Open the app, paste your license key, click Activate
  4. App resolves YouTube channel IDs locally — no quota, no monthly limit
